Tonight I started to pick out art for my upcoming show which means pricing and tagging art that is framed or finished and ready to sell. I separated the ‘good’ pieces from the ‘bad’ pieces (i.e. the pieces that I don’t think will sell). While busy coming up with prices and such I began to think about the pieces that were rejected. Are they not ‘good’ art if they are not sale able? What is the difference between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ art anyway? People have bought art from me in the past that I thought was terrible! I wondered at the time if selling something that I didn’t care for at all was somehow irresponsible. But then again, if the buyer found something in the piece then it was valuable to them. So now I wonder what you think about my ‘bad’ art? Do you like these pieces? Would you buy one?
Some of them look unfinished and some and just plain cheesy. I wonder how I will ever decide what art to put into a show and what to leave at home……or maybe just get rid of them once and for all…..bonfire anyone?
