I finished a commission last night. Paintings aren’t something I have been working on lately and it was fun to play with paint for a while. Maybe I could make a painted background piece and then layer portraits on top of it? Not a bad idea. This is what I worked on tonight including the commission….

I know why I want new images each night. Because I have grown up in a culture where we are bombarded with imagery all the time. Television, magazines, movies, and now the internet. Obviously this is not a new concept that other artists haven’t explored over and over again, Warhol and Lichtenstein come to mind and there are scores of others. I too want to find the ‘something new’ in each day.

This is the first installation in a series I want to explore using doll house furniture.

As an artist I fit all the stereotypes. A sense of obsession. A lens thru which I look at life every day.
I want to make the ordinary the extraordinary.

In the end I love making drama. I am working on a commission that involves non digital art. So I painted. And I find when I paint now its all about filling in a formula. I don’t want to fill in a formula…..I want to make images that are provocative.

I made two paper collages and two digital collages. I don’t necessarily like one better than the other….both are fun. Is one a more valid art for than the other? I’m not sure.
