Collage

June 25, 2010

I made two paper collages and two digital collages.  I don’t necessarily like one better than the other….both are fun.  Is one a more valid art for than the other?  I’m not sure.

ArtSquare

June 12, 2010

Often when I am at ArtSquare people in passing ask me if its different working amongst a group instead of alone.  I tell them how odd it feels to know that there is an audience watching me as I work.  Truth be told I am still shy about working in front of an audience.  Here are a few pieces that I created at ArtSquare over the last few weeks.  Over all I am happy with them even if making them in new environment was strange.  I wonder how working there will affect my work over all.

“Girl One”

“Spring Flowers”

“King Of Hearts”

Coming down after a show…

June 5, 2010

So many friends came out to support me tonight….I am touched.  Its always hard to come down after a show when you’ve worked so hard to make it happen.   I could never have done it without Lee McKinster and the Loudoun Arts Council.

Free Art!

June 2, 2010

So if you can guess what I am going to use these for you could win some free art!  What do you think I will be using these for on the night of my show this Friday at the Loudoun Arts Council?  If you guess right you get a free piece of art the night of the show.  Don’t comment here however and give the secret away.  Email me with your guess at…..dmorbeto@yahoo.com.  The first five guesses will be eligible to win!

The fine print!  Winners will be able to choose
from one of several 5" x 7" matted original pieces of art.
Winners must attend the event in order to be eligible.

Volumes Of Excitement

June 1, 2010

Setting up a show is so much fun!  I love how my art looks (guess I’m not very modest!) and love working with Lee McKinster from the Loudoun Arts Council.  She and I transformed the small and somewhat awkward space into an installation speaking volumes with excitement.  The beautiful red walls that are part of the Arts Council’s space don’t hurt either.

Don’t miss us this Friday, June 4th at Leesburg’s First Friday in the Loudoun Arts Council’s office above Madisonbelle  (5 Loudoun Street Southeast) in downtown Leesburg, from 6pm – 9pm.

Thinking About Louise Bourgeois

June 1, 2010

Louise thought mainly about relationships…seeing an entity in relation to its surroundings.  I like this approach to art.  I see it in my own work all the time.  Thinking about this helps me focus more.  Shapes in their negative spaces that make whole compositions on their own.

Getting Ready For An Art Show

May 30, 2010

I’m getting ready for a show and have over 30 pieces of framed art to take with me!  Not to mention all the pieces matted and in bags.  I think it will be a good night at Maisonbelle and the Loudoun Arts Council at the next First Friday!

Studio Notes

May 20, 2010

I took some pictures of art that I have made that I like in the hope of figuring out what techniques and compositions work for me.  I had fun making them and want to return back to this post so that I can push each idea even further.

Some More Collage

May 18, 2010

I like to combine paper collage with digital collage.
