A Painted Background

July 11, 2010

I finished a commission last night.  Paintings aren’t something I have been working on lately and it was fun to play with paint for a while.  Maybe I could make a painted background piece and then layer portraits on top of it?  Not a bad idea.  This is what I worked on tonight including the commission….

Texture….oh my!

I am digging this digital technique for layering images.  The images are my photographs with added texture.  Fun!

ArtSquare

June 12, 2010

Often when I am at ArtSquare people in passing ask me if its different working amongst a group instead of alone.  I tell them how odd it feels to know that there is an audience watching me as I work.  Truth be told I am still shy about working in front of an audience.  Here are a few pieces that I created at ArtSquare over the last few weeks.  Over all I am happy with them even if making them in new environment was strange.  I wonder how working there will affect my work over all.

“Girl One”

“Spring Flowers”

“King Of Hearts”

An overload of ephemera and some collages.

April 21, 2010

I took part in an artists’ swap wherein I sent a bunch of papers and other ephemera to another artist who compiled each pile into a package for each artist.  I got some really cool stuff!

Art Square

April 6, 2010

Now that my studio is all set up at Art Square I am free to come and go as I please making art on whim or just hanging out there doing ‘business’ work. Well let me just say that it is VERY different than working in my studio at home. I thought at first that I would feel self conscious but I don’t. I am leaning on tried and true techniques for now just to get used to the idea of working here. I completed this piece today, even though I have been staying away from art on canvas or paper. It doesn’t push any envelopes but I rather like it! Who knows how this studio space will influence how I work…..I am totally open to new possibilities!
